Hey all reading this.
I went out to Ibiza last may, on the 9th, on my own, for the 1st time. I got a job as a P.R and long term accommodation sorted within about 2 days of trying, after a week or so of partying with the guys and girls in my hotel. After about a month of P.R work, I decided to look around for doorwork, which I got. This was unbelievably awesome work to do if you are quite big and can handle yourself at least a bit (doesnt mean you have to be rough or violent, just act the part, ha) I stayed right through till all the closing parties were over. And all I can say to anyone thinking about it is DO IT!!!!! Even if you are on your own, it doesnt matter. Every worker is so friendly out there, you will meet people straight away, everyone who knows anything about helping you will do their best to help you. And you will have the best summer of your life!! So heres a few pointers to keep you on track .Keep on this site and ask lots of questions. You can never be too prepared and this site is the best on the net for both new and experienced workers. .Once out there, go to the ship inn (san Antonio). They have a notice board and will let you put your details up for work or roommates. Also take down all the numbers on there. You will get accommodation rapid, just ring the people and talk to them. .For work, dont be shy. Walk round every bar every nite and ask inside if they have work goin. You may get blown out 5 nights in a row off the same bars but theyl admire your determination and when someone leaves their job there, you will get your chance. .The 1st month, jobs are always becoming available because once you are a P.R for anywere, you will get to know all the other P.R's around and hear about all the better jobs coming in and opening up before anyone else. So when you move on to somat bigger and better, someone else newer than you will get your old job. .BE HONEST. Cant stress that point enough. People in Ibiza love honesty, respect it, and treat you better. Theyr also good at spotting the liars. You will go far if you are truthfull with everyone. .Make sure you have enough euros to sort out your accommodation. Most places will ask around 300 euros a month, witha 200 euro deposit, so 500 euros upfront is what youll need, but after that, ur sorted and the rest is what you spend yourself. .THE LAURA APTS is where it is AT. A lot of workers have their 1st month or so in there. Its a good place to live at the start until something more permanant becomes available, and you can meet a lot of top workers in there. Some lazy people think its far out of San An, but its just a few streets away really. Its closer than the bay, about 5 mins from the main strip (Called The West End) .Long term accommodation. On the west end is a shop called Mega Music. The owner is a guy called Danny, and he has a few fingers in a few pies. If you want accommodation, speak to him. He usually has a lot goin, wont ever rip you off, and even though he's all business, he's also honest and reliable, and a top bloke. Thats about it for my waffle for now. If you need any advice, add me as a friend on here or message me on face book or something (James Conboy, Manchester Network) and Ill help you out as much as I can. Ill be working on the doors of Tropicana, Rehab or Es Paradise depending on the night, and will also help you out once you are over there if you need it. Good look, and ill see everyone out there for 2008!! |
